Kathia Velasco is a skilled public affairs and media professional with extensive experience in event planning, graphic design, database management, live and virtual community meetings, social media, and media relations. She is highly proficient in graphic design and uses cutting-edge technology to create compelling collateral materials, social media content, newsletters for city residents, and educational mailers for public measures. Kathia also has experience setting up press conferences, writing press releases, and developing outreach strategies to engage communities effectively.

At Velada Public Affairs, Kathia is deeply involved in both client-facing projects and the firm’s internal operations. She manages bookkeeping and financial reporting, is certified in QuickBooks, assists with billing and accounts, and supports business development through RFP preparation and proposal writing. She also leads HR functions, including onboarding and staff support, while ensuring overall operations run smoothly and efficiently. In addition, she provides hands-on guidance for community outreach, media relations, social media management, and government relations, helping projects achieve maximum impact.

Prior to joining Velada Public Affairs, Kathia contributed to a wide range of projects for the City of Carson, Port of Long Beach, SCAQMD, Metro, and others. Her expertise in media relations, content development, social media, and public outreach has helped her quickly become a key contributor to Velada’s team.

Kathia holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and Advertising from Cal State Dominguez Hills. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her fiancé and dog at the beach.
