Vermont Transit Corridor
-
Metro’s plan includes better transit, faster travel times, and more reliable service along Vermont Avenue. This project between Hollywood Boulevard and 120th Street would also enhance connections to the Metro B, C, D, and E Lines, including improved access to opportunities. The Vermont corridor is home to a high concentration of low-income households, contributing to high ridership.
The Vermont Transit Corridor project will open between late 2028 and 2030. It is funded by Measure M, which includes a provision for a potential future conversion to rail based on ridership demand.
-
The VPA team led a community-based outreach effort prioritizing hard-to-reach populations and close collaboration with community-based and community development organizations. Crafted a hyper-localized public participation plan to engage Latinx, Thai, Armenian, Korean, and Bangladeshi communities throughout the corridor to educate the residents about their future transit options through art workshops, food pop-ups, bus stop intercepts, and faith-based touchpoints. As a result of the award-winning engagement efforts, the project moved forward to the implementation phase, which will be carried out in close collaboration with Metro’s 41 project partners.
Case Studies
Lynwood Unified School District
-
Postmates created Serve, an autonomous delivery robot specifically designed to traverse sidewalks and provide efficient and secure deliveries within a limited radius. Serve is equipped with an array of sensors and cameras to detect and navigate around obstacles, ensuring the safety and effectiveness of its delivery operations. Serve seeks to improve the overall delivery experience, decrease delivery durations, and investigate environmentally friendly and economically viable delivery alternatives. However, it's important to note that the availability and deployment of Serve rely on the regulations and specific location guidelines governing the use of autonomous delivery devices in different areas. Serve aimed to be included in a pilot program conducted in West Hollywood, allowing them to assess its viability and gather valuable insights for potential future implementations.
-
The VPA team played a vital role in supporting Serve’s automated robot delivery pilot program by leading government relations and public outreach efforts. Our team developed stakeholder databases, coordinated meetings with elected officials, city staff, and community leaders. Our team also conducted targeted educational campaigns to build community consensus and support for the program. In addition to these efforts, VPA also assisted with event planning and organization. Our team successfully organized an LGBTQ+ community event in West Hollywood to further engage local residents and demonstrate the commitment to inclusivity and innovation. Through these efforts, VPA helped lay the groundwork for the pilot program’s successful implementation.

VPA supported Lynwood Unified School District by coordinating high-level engagement with federal, state, and local government officials and agencies. The project focused on strengthening the District’s government relations and legislative strategy through comprehensive policy support, background research, and strategic guidance. As part of this effort, VPA assisted the District in navigating complex legislative processes and communicating key priorities to decision-makers. This work contributed to Lynwood Unified School District securing $250 million in financial support from state legislators to restore the fallen Lynwood High School Imperial Campus. Through proactive coordination, policy direction, and legislative support, VPA helped position the District to successfully advocate for critical funding and advance long-term infrastructure and educational goals on behalf of students and the community.
